I grew up in Brockville, where the wealthiest man in town had been Liberal Senator George T. Fulford, who had made his fortune on ‘Pink Pills for Pale People’ – “Reverend Enoch Hill of M.E. Church of Grand Junction in Iowa, endorsed the product in many 1900s advertisements, claiming that it energized him and cured his chronic headaches. Eventually, the product came to be advertised around the world in 82 countries” - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dr._Williams%27_Pink_Pills_for_Pale_People.

Fulford’s portrait is in the Canadian Historical Gallery of “men whose energy, ability, enterprise and public spirit are responsible for the advancement of Canada, the premier colony of Great Britain”.

A few year back the Mayo Clinic did a large retrospective study on the benefits of vitamins for any and all medical conditions (except of course treating vitamin deficiency diseases such as scurvy, pellagra, ricketts etc.) and found no statistically significant benefit of any vitamin supplementation and posssibly some harm when excessive doses are taken. We knew way back in the days of Linus Pauling that large doses of Vitamin C are no more effective than placebo in reducing or shortening symptoms of the common cold or in preventing catching colds. About three years ago I did a literature search on Vitamin D studies (I was concerned that one of the nursing homes that I was working at was insisting that all residents be put on Vitamin D supplementation). Not one study showed benefit to bone health (ie. reduction of osteoporosis or reduction of fractures in the elderly). In fact not one study showed any benefit at all except one very small study that showed a minor reduction in falls (but not fractures) in the elderly.

I think from a scientific point of view the vitamin argument can be put to rest. Big Pharma makes 'em. Big Pharma markets 'em,. Big Pharma separates us from our hard earned bucks.

If, however, you enjoy conspiracy theories, have some extra cash to burn and are willing to turn a blind eye to science then be by guest. Besides I hear they deliver vitamins in delicious chewable gummy candies. Paul.

Hi all

An important part of the World Social Forum in 2016 was the World Forum on Liberation Theology. My take away from the forum was an appreciation of how our belief systems have been colonized to support the interests of our Neo-liberal oligarchies. Many of us cannot see any possibilities other than the status-quo beliefs that we are being fed by the media and the authorities. I have come to understand that a role of theology is to decolonize our belief system freeing us to face the evidence and truth before us. It is to do battle with the Neo-liberal colonizers of our minds.

No where is this more critical as in the area of health and nutrition. This article demonstrates How this battle is forming now. There is a danger when the left is encouraged to blindly accept corporate controlled media.

Mercola has been an outspoken advocate of nutritional science and critic of profit driven big Pharma.

USA Today Smears Mercola Over Vitamin C and D Information
Story at-a-glance

  * Mainstream media, supported by monopoly tech platforms like Google, YouTube, Facebook and Twitter, are going to great lengths to control the narrative of what you see and read about the COVID-19 pandemic
  * May 2, 2020, USA Today tried to debunk my April 7, 2020, article, “Vitamins C and D Finally Adopted as Coronavirus Treatment,” which has more than 814,600 views, without presenting any counterevidence
  * The majority of mainstream media in the U.S. are owned, funded (through advertising) — and therefore easily controlled — by only a few powerful corporate entities and industries, some of which are overseas and may not even have American interests at heart
  * Only 47% of American adults trust mainstream digital publishers to report accurate information about COVID-19. Still, 85% trust the CDC and 77% trust WHO, both of which have the same conflicts of interest as most mainstream media
  * Both vitamin C and D have an enormous amount of evidence showing they provide important immune function benefits, and that your immune function is your front-line defense against all illness, including COVID-19

The fact that there is an information war going on is quite evident at this point. Mainstream media, supported by monopoly tech platforms like Google<https://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2020/05/10/google-and-your-privacy.aspx>, YouTube<https://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2020/05/05/youtube-censorship.aspx>, Facebook<https://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2019/03/27/facebook-criminal-investigation.aspx> and Twitter, are going to great lengths to control the narrative of what you see and read about the COVID-19 pandemic.

Videos questioning the narrative — even when done by health professionals and scientists — are taken down faster than you can share them. Social media accounts of well-respected health professionals are being suppressed and removed. Twitter is even trialing a moderator tool that warns users when they’re about to post “harmful” language, although it’s unclear what the company might deem harmful.1

Fact-Checking at Its Worst

“Fact-checking” is also in overdrive, with journalists who are clueless about health and choose to side with the authoritarians writing articles “debunking” clear and provable facts without any counterevidence whatsoever.
