Hi all

Brian in the Sunday Community list  has made a good critique of my
Vigano post to which I follow with a response.

    Hi Art, and everyone,

When Archbishop Vigano is given as an authoritative reference point,
I think it has to be strongly noted that Vigano has been, for a long
time, a controversial figure at the very least, and indeed a most
troublesome member of the Catholic hierarchy. He has attacked Pope
Francis publicly and widely on a number of occasions. In fact, it
has been reported in the media that Vigano refuses to recognize
Francis as Pope, and even refers to him as a “non-Catholic pope.”
He has also entered into confrontations with other senior church
leaders, especially in the United States. He has put forward
negative positions on various major issues, such as Black Lives
Matter, LGBTQ rights, COVID health measures, etc. To the dismay of
many American bishops, Vigano entered loudly into U.S. politics:
supporting Donald Trump, in the run-up to the last election, and
attacking Joe Biden, as well as bolstering various conspiracy
theories having to do with the pandemic, international relations and
    the global economy.

Vigano is, unfortunately, not a good example for Catholics or for
anyone else, but rather exemplifies an attitude that is wildly
reactionary and even, I would suggest, hateful and dedicated to the
sowing of division. The source of this article about Vigano, namely
*/Life Site News/*, also speaks volumes about Vigano’s opinions and
those who support them. */Life Site News/* is known for its myopic,
tunnel-vision approach to life and to Catholic social justice teaching.

    With love and concern,
    Brian

Hi again

I guess i really opened up a can of worms especially for myself with
this post.

I suspected that Vigano and Francis are at odds but was not sure so
thank you Brian for the post. Our church is polarized between left and
right just as our society is.  Each faction of the church is calling the
other devil.  Francis calls ETWN the work of the devil.  and the right
wing church responds in kind.  I am a raving fan of Laudato Si and yet I
can see truth coming from Vigano that is entirely consistent with
chapter three of Laudato Si,  "The Human Roots of the Ecological
Crisis".  Francis point to the technocratic mindset as the cause of our
threat to the planet. Although Vigano denies the validity of Laudato Si
his protest against techno feudalism could be inspired by this third
chapter in Laudato Si.

There is a global right tribe and a global left tribe.  Maybe we need
the perspectives of both tribes to gain a superior understanding of
reality in the age of Techno feudalism.

Today Canada approved vaccinations for children.  It appears that the
only critique of the fear based fuzzy logic that is generating this
tragedy on our children is coming from the right.

My take on Vigano's fear is that of a social credit system like in
China.  If you disobey you have your digital passport revoked and you
can't buy food in the supermarket or maybe for a lesser offense you can
no longer go out for a meal with your spouse nor play hockey.

i don't agree with the entirety of his statement.   But I hope that our
society comes to its senses soon and puts and end to the segregation of
our society, covid passports, honors our basic human rights and most of
all protect our children from a dystopic future.  Then i will rejoice
that my fears of Vigano's hell were so ill advised. .

I will try to send something less controversial next time.

Peace and love

Please take my posts with a grain of salt they are just information.
