[Craic] Why Tara Henly resigned from the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation

Tara Henley’s experiences at the CBC mirror my thoughts about what I have been hearing. I gave up watching CBC News a few years ago. To me, it seemed that corporate control from the politically appointed Board (Harper in particular) resulted in a paucity of in-depth analysis and investigative reporting.

Friday evening, for example, we watched Marketplace for the first time in a long time. I didn’t see myself represented in the staff on-air. There was little analysis of why people are paying extra to a grocery delivery service,  called Instacart. They attempted a Michael Moore “ambush” of the firm, but it was pro forma. In short, the exposé of the rip-off was done mainly to entertain people, no advocacy involved.
