Now that the Eastern Orthodox Church has celebrated Christmas, the following poem seems appropriate:

now what - a poem by Thomas Shuman

now what will you do with those gifts?
now what will you do with that love
that God has given you to share with others?

now what will you do with that hope
God put under the tree?
can you pass it along to a neighbour?

now what will you do with that joy
you didn’t expect?
hoard it all for yourself
or hand it to someone needing joy?

now what will you do with that grace
that God stuck in your stocking?
leave it there until next Christmas?
or find a stranger who needs it?

now what will you do
with all the blessings in your life
that God has given to you?
throw it out with the wrapping paper
or offer blessings to others?

now that Christmas is finally over,
what will you do?
