Art, I predict that your prediction will prove to be way off base. The
new COVID variant is about as pathogenic as the rhinovirus (cold virus)
which spreads widely every late fall and winter. It's causes less
illness than the Influenza virus.
Ted, are you advocating for everyone to wear masks and social distance
for ever all based on the ideology that we should all be looking out for
each other' back. Variants of the COVID virus are not going to go away
but will generally mutate to low pathogenicity. Should we get another
truly deadly variant (which is quite unlikely) I would be all for going
back to masks and social distancing (although there is no evidence that
either reduces viral spread).

Hi Ted
You are right in character, getting us ready for another round of health
mandates for the new global pandemic scheduled for November of this
year. I predict that at that time the WHO will take over the authority
of our governments and this time implement global health passports and
mandates globally and officially end our democracy in favour of rule by
technocratic billionaires. I have heard rumors of this over a month
before the CBC declared its new deadly variant of concern. We will see
if it comes to pass.
It appears the main stream of our culture has gone back to the dark
ages. Science was once about challenging and questioning an established
hypothesis and creating new ideas. Now science is a dogma and medical
practitioners who do not abide by this dogma are excommunicated from the
medical profession. The principle article of faith you state without
providing any evidence is(the link you provide is pure speculation
providing no scientific evidence):
Even though we already know that two-way masking is still the most
effective way

to mitigate the spread of the virus.
A recent article in Global Research on The widespread failure of
COVID-19 public health policies
<https://www.globalresearch.ca/adverse-effects-face-masks-confirmed/5823374>
states:
While N95 masks are claimed to offer the highest level of protection
against viruses such as SARS-CoV-2, some health officials dispute this
saying there is not enough evidence to suggest they protect vulnerable
people. Testing this, a report published by the UK Health Security
Agency
<https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/1139633/The-effectiveness-of-N95-masks-as-wearer-protection-against-COVID-19-in-community-settings-in-people-at-higher-risk-from-becoming-seriously-ill-from-COVID-19-A-rapid-review.pdf>
in March 2023 examined whether wearing N95 masks protects people at
higher risk from becoming seriously ill with the virus. Notably, the
report authors were unable to find even a single study providing data to
prove the intervention’s efficacy.
The concept of the common good has been used by tyrants in the past and
now to control and manipulate people. In these Covid times the common
good is used to justify the removal of rights and freedoms. Among these
rights and freedoms being lost is the right to informed consent
established in the Nuremberg trials to prevent a government from
medically experimenting on its citizens. Other rights being subverted in
the name of the common good are Freedom of expression, freedom of
association and freedom to travel. Its Utilitarian eugenics all the
way.
Francis in Laudato Si clearly opposes this use of the common good to
diminish our rights and freedoms.
157. Underlying the principle of the common good is respect for the
human person as such, endowed with basic and inalienable rights ordered
to his or her integral development. It has also to do with the overall
welfare of society and the development of a variety of intermediate
groups, applying the principle of subsidiarity.
The Mandates you are getting ready to impose on the rest of us are
coming from the top(Pfizer, the WHO, Bill Gates and Anthony Faucci
<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LaNc2P3tcXA> ) down. It does not
exercise the principal of subsidiarity where, as Francis suggests all
levels of organization should serve "the basic cell of society which is
the family." This reverses Catholic teaching making the family
subservient to the global state.

crowded indoor spaces.
In other words, when it comes to protection, we place the burden on the
individual. It's a strikingly individualist ethos: the diametric
opposite of a communal ethic in which members of a community take the
responsibility for ensuring the safety of all. In its way, the concept
of one-way masking sends the message to those who are more
vulnerable that they are essentially on their own. Even though we

to mitigate the spread of the virus.
To put it simply, in a true community, we take care of one another.
