Hi Allan

Re: our climate change debate.

Although this article takes what I consider to be an alarmist view that
is intended to create a fear response in its readership it does agree
with some of the conclusions of so called climate change deniers.  The
truths:

 1. *We Are Running Out of Time*
 2. ***Cutting Emissions Is Not Enough*
 3. ***Carbon Accumulates*
 4. ***Predicting the Climate Is Hard*
 5. ***Averages Lie*
 6. ***The Atmosphere Does Not “Bounce Back”*
 7. ***Runaway” Is Possible*

1, 2, 3, can be summed up with *6.The Atmosphere Does Not “Bounce Back.
*We are looking at a long term trend where we will not see the effects
of our attempts to reduce carbon in our life time so why all the
hypocritical rash action with useless urgency. Wars create more CO2
emmissions than driving cars.  We should be focused on adapting to a
warmer planet if that is what is actually happening.

4 and 5 indicate the lack of veracity in predicting global warming.  so
perhaps climate science should be questioned and predictive models
should always be re-evaluated in lieu of emerging data.

#7 *Runaway” Is Possible*is really the cupola of fear mongering.  I
would call it the "Ice 9" or tower of Babel problem where human
technology creates conditions that brings about apocalypse.Gwynne Dyer's
suggestion that Geo-engineering may be needed i.e. chem trails,  is also
an "ice 9" problem that may cede its own apocalyptic consequences.

Fear mongering about the climate is great for controlling people but not
so great for the creative human spirit.  Focusing with great fear on the
long term climate issue obscures the more immediately dangerous issues
we face with the corruption of our food supply and the potential for
nuclear war.

Love to see you again at Saturday craic.
