Hi all

The question that Michael Moore's film raises for me is
whether our civilization is in decline because of the
technological excesses we have engaged. At Saturday craic we
were discussing alternatives to the current system. A high
contender for the kind of system we might want in the future
is the resource based economy. I am wondering about the
carbon footprint of a project where we stick 6 billion people
into cities like the one pictured below. It took a couple of
hundred years for the Roman empire to decline. if it takes
that long for the American Empire to decline will we have sown
the seed for our inevitable extinction.

A Resource based economy involves much more than substituting
green technology for carbon based technology.
