I don't know Paul.

In your view of the world do retrospective studies supersede
clinical trials. If not you should do another literature search.
A key aspect of scientific research is that it is informed by
theory. Metabolic theory is advancing very rapidly these days.
Vitamin D is now considered a hormone necessary for metabolic
health. The way our knowledge is expanding two year old anecdotes
are antiquated.

You should take the time to listen to Rhonda Patrick's
interview. She can rhyme off studies that will make your head
spin. Another characteristic of Patrick that I esteem is that she
has the humility to admit her bias.

By the way, labeling everybody who contradicts scientific dogma
as conspiracy theorists is known as an ad hominum fallacy, a
favorite ploy of sophists.

A few year back the Mayo Clinic did a large retrospective study
on the benefits of vitamins for any and all medical conditions
(except of course treating vitamin deficiency diseases such as
scurvy, pellagra, ricketts etc.) and found no statistically
significant benefit of any vitamin supplementation and posssibly
some harm when excessive doses are taken. We knew way back in
the days of Linus Pauling that large doses of Vitamin C are no
more effective than placebo in reducing or shortening symptoms
of the common cold or in preventing catching colds. About three
years ago I did a literature search on Vitamin D studies (I was
concerned that one of the nursing homes that I was working at
was insisting that all residents be put on Vitamin D
supplementation). Not one study showed benefit to bone health
(ie. reduction of osteoporosis or reduction of fractures in the
elderly). In fact not one study showed any benefit at all
except one very small study that showed a minor reduction in
falls (but not fractures) in the elderly.

I think from a scientific point of view the vitamin argument
can be put to rest. Big Pharma makes 'em. Big Pharma markets
'em,. Big Pharma separates us from our hard earned bucks.

If, however, you enjoy conspiracy theories, have some extra
cash to burn and are willing to turn a blind eye to science then
be by guest. Besides I hear they deliver vitamins in delicious
chewable gummy candies. Paul.

Hi all

An important part of the World Social Forum in 2016 was the
World Forum on Liberation Theology. My take away from the
forum was an appreciation of how our belief systems have
been colonized to support the interests of our Neo-liberal
oligarchies. Many of us cannot see any possibilities other
than the status-quo beliefs that we are being fed by the
media and the authorities. I have come to understand that a
role of theology is to decolonize our belief system freeing
us to face the evidence and truth before us. It is to do
battle with the Neo-liberal colonizers of our minds.

No where is this more critical as in the area of health and
nutrition. This article demonstrates How this battle is
forming now. There is a danger when the left is encouraged
to blindly accept corporate controlled media.

Mercola has been an outspoken advocate of nutritional
science and critic of profit driven big Pharma.
