We also know how to care for these folk when they inevitably get ill, AND we know how to protect them from illness. However, protecting these neighbours of ours, who are at "the crossroads" as you say, costs money. What matters most to Premier Dud?</p><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">As Dr. Ted often says, there’s lots of distraction going on - like Ontario testing passengers at Pearson International for COVID. Why not test at the Amazon warehouses - excuse me - that’s “fulfillment centres”. </div><p style="margin: 1em 0px; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);" class="">Allan</p><div class="">There is no evidence that this photo was taken on a beach in St. Barts.</div><div class=""><img height="248" width="240" apple-width="yes" apple-height="yes" apple-inline="yes" id="AEECCF04-467D-43CE-83C7-2E64825A85A1" src="cid:9B613B96-9625-41C9-9B00-900973153055@home" class=""></div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div><blockquote type="cite" class=""><div class=""><div class=""><blockquote type="cite" class="">
<br class="">Article is spot on. While Covid remains a possibility for everyone, we now clearly know the crossroads where this disease congregates. And that is where the vulnerable and the economically marginal meet. And the crossroads come together at homes for the elderly where the compromised and vulnerable meet the service staff who cook the food, clean the rooms and tend to the physical needs of the many residents who can no longer look after themselves.
<br class="">

Many of these service staff often work in more than one facility, have to use public transport and more often than not live in condos or rental accommodations with numerous other family members who have likely returned to their dwelling from other low level service jobs. So, the traffic at the crossroads intersection grows and places like old age homes, distribution centres and warehouses become the epicentres of the infections.

Go to the USA and it is even worse as so many in the service sector do not even have appropriate medical insurance.

Back to Ontario. The government oversight that has now turned to rooting out “toboggan hills criminals” is just on the wrong page. Politicians flailing away at non issues and causing much grief and potentially ill health as a result of their almost puritanical zealotry.

So disappointed with these overreach measures. I certainly thought we had a much more effective civil service than appears to be the case. Call in Louis St. Laurent and Lester Pearson.

And check out the crossroads for the major repair work needed.
