<p>Thanks for the good news story about the church in Kitchener.</p>
<p>Sad to read that there are so many people who "the system' has excluded.</p>
<p>At Beach United we are continuing our Thursday lunch program (Shari delivered cookies yesterday) where we serve 40 to 50 lunch meals weekly. Plus we have a dedicated, and subversive, group that prepares food on Fridays and delivers it to people living in some of the encampments. The City sees this as "encouragement" to the people who are camped outdoors, and the City discourages these Christian acts of charity.<br /></p>
<p>Begging + Luxury condos = a visible sign of inequities in Toronto. <br /></p>
<p>In 1997 Ronald J. Sider published a book that was formative for me in my faith. I have the 25th anniversary edition of "Rich Christians In An Age of Hunger. Maybe I'll take this opportunity to re-read the book. The sub-title is: Moving from Affluence to Generosity.</p>
<p>Bob, you may be interested in the fact that Ron Sider is a graduate of the University of Waterloo, and is an "evangelical" Christian theologian.</p>
