I saw that you asked David Walsh this question. Check out “Megacities” with Andrew Marr, esp episode 3, on YouTube. The links from skyscrapers to outrageous rents to pollution to transportation gridlock to wealth disparity are excellently traced.<br>

Doug Ford’s “Tired Curtain,” the 413, will ensure that Toronto remains gridlocked from access to the countryside for at least one hour to possibly one and a half hours as the city follows in the much dishonoured path of the last 50-60 years of more cars, congestion
and Caterpillars. Catastrophe is looming with the “tried and true failure” to conceive any imaginative alternative vision for our megacity. Worldclass city…what a lot of nonsense that was. Myth making tailor made for the developers, construction industry,
real estate barons and speculators.<br>
