EMERGENCY PROTEST FOR PALESTINE 

As Israel continues to commit war crimes and genocide against Palestinians, we will be having an emergency protest to call for action on Thursday, October 19th at 11:30 at the Diana Krall Plaza Downtown Nanaimo . 



Please spread the word to as many people as possible, cancel plans if you have them, it's time as humans that we stand up against genocide. 

We are aware that such events may be scary for some people however now is the time we overcome that to stand with our brothers and sisters in Palestine. We all have each other's back. 

On Thursday, we kindly ask you to keep the following points in mind: 

1. **Stand in Solidarity:** This gathering is intended as an expression of solidarity and support for Palestine. Please refrain from engaging in any disturbances. 



2. **Engage in Discussion:** We encourage everyone to engage in respectful and constructive discussions based on facts, if you’re unsure, refer them to someone more knowledgeable. 



3. **Stay Above Provocation:** Sometimes, statements may be made to provoke a reaction. We advise against engaging with individuals seeking to provoke. Instead, focus on our message of solidarity with Palestinians. 



4. **Understand the Root Cause:** It's essential to recognize the historical context. The violence in Isr*el’s root cause is the over 75 years of ethnic cleansing and genocide of Palestinians. This is not a surprise attack that was planned yesterday, please do not hesitate to reach out for more information.

Re “Hamas, Israel and the ‘yes, but' squad” (Oct 14): I think it would be fair to characterize Canada's Israel policy for the past 75 yers as “yes, but.” 
“Yes, it’s terrible what happened to the Palestinians, but…”
