Dear Friends,

As some of you might know, I am joining a group of like-minded individuals aboard The Peace Train, travelling from Vancouver (Nov 14) to Ottawa (Nov 20) on Via Rail to find 'those with power', MPs and others, who are willing to meet with us.

This initiative came to my friend Keith Wyton, Port Alberni, as he woke up with Cat Stevens singing ' Peace Train' in his head. Like many of us, Keith was/is deeply troubled by the escalating wars and felt the need to Do Something. When I received his email, I was also feeling despair, helpless and guilty for my life of security & privilege here on Vancouver Island, so I responded with an impulsive "Yes I'm in".

Many discussions ensued and now, with support from MP Gord Johns and other advisors, the PeaceTrain group has come up with an e-Petition which asks our government to enable Canada to take an active role as a peace-keeping country by establishing a peace centre that would promote research, training, conflict resolution, diplomacy - - - finding ways to work towards peace globally.

I am asking for your support by signing this e-Petition. We need 500 signatures by November 8 in order for it to be presented to our government.

'Come on the Peace Train'

Thank you.

Please sign the PTC e-petition and circulate it far and wide through your network for signatures. The e-petition will fail if we don’t secure at least 500 signatures by November 8 th which is the minimum required to go before the house for response. Here is the link to share for the e petition:
