Vancouver Island Human Rights Activist Shares Stories

Of Recent Visit to the West Bank

Join us for an evening of reflection, insight, and advocacy as Vancouver Island resident Linda Taffs, a long-time Palestinian human rights activist, shares her experiences from a recent ecumenical witness pilgrimage to the West Bank in Occupied Palestine. The talk will be held live at Weird Church, 2688 Penrith Ave in Cumberland on Friday, January 10 at 7 pm and will also be zoomed live.

ra According to Taffs, her journey was motivated by frustration over Canada’s ongoing arms sales to Israel and the lack of governmental action against the ongoing genocide. Her firsthand experiences offer a unique perspective on the urgent need for Canadians to pressure the government to end weapons permits and demand a ceasefire.

A Parksville resident, Linda Taffs is a mother, grandmother, and Quaker who has dedicated decades to advocating for peace and justice. She serves as the Clerk of the Quaker Israel Palestine Working Group and is a member of the ecumenical group Canada Stand Up for Palestinian Children’s Rights. Linda’s commitment to Palestinian human rights was ignited during a trip to Iraq in 1999 and has since grown through her active involvement in global and local advocacy. Her recent pilgrimage to Israel and Palestine deepened her resolve to promote compassionate action and justice for all.
