Hi again,

I am resending my message of last week regarding the Advent liturgies. John and Mary MacMillan have volunteered to look after the 1st Sunday of Advent (29 November) and Sharon McCarthy has volunteered for the 2nd Sunday (6 December). We still need people for the 3rd (13 December) and 4th (20 December) Sundays. Let me know if you’d like too help out.

> Hi Folks,

> As Liz has already let you know I have volunteered to be the Advent Convenor for this year. Because of restrictions and our Zoom masses the process is being simplified this year and we will not be holding a planning meeting as we have done in the past. There will be no overall theme this season and I ask that the liturgy planners work with the readings of the day and pull out of them whatever theme you think is appropriate for the reflection. Please let me know if you would like to be assigned to one of the four Sundays: 29 November (1st), 6 December, (2nd), 13 December (3rd) or 20 December (4th). We need one or two people for each mass. Please reply directly to me at mfdipaolo at bell.net <mailto:mfdipaolo at bell.net>.
>
> The duties of liturgy planners for Advent are the same as those for our regular Sunday virtual masses except that we are also asking you to ask the celebrant to light the appropriate Advent candles on their Advent Wreath at the start of mass.
> Call the priest to confirm Sunday’s liturgy and ask them to light the Advent Candle(s) at the start of the mass at their own location.
> Prepare or find a Reflection and send it to the People Progress reporter by Thursday. Please notify the People Progress reporter early in the week if you cannot do a Reflection.
> Line up readers for the first and second readings and check with Brian Halferty regarding the psalm
> On the Sunday of the virtual mass:
> Greet the group
> Give a brief introduction to the liturgy
> Be prepared to do a reading (if one of the volunteer readers is unable to log-in)
> Thank everyone who ‘attended’ and those who helped (at Announcements)
> Below are some resources that you may find helpful.

> In previous years John MacMillan, and more recently I, have gone to Pauline Books and Media at 3022 Dufferin St. and purchased Sunday Missals for those in our community who wanted one. This year we can’t work the same way so if you haven’t already got a 2020/21 Sunday Missal the cheapest way to get one online is through the publisher Novalis, which, according to their online shop, should ship it to you for free. Pauline Books and Media also has an online shop but they do charge for shipping and the total cost is a lot more than buying through Novalis. If you want to go in person the Pauline bookstore is just south of Lawrence Ave. and there is plenty of parking. If you still have your Sunday Missal for 2017/18 it will be good for next year as well as both are Year B in the cycle.
