1. John goes out at dawn, trying to find out what happened to everyone.

2. Manaen, Herod's foster brother and a disciple of Jesus, comes to the
house of the Supper, after hearing that the women are alone and offers to
help in any way he can. Mary asks him to check on Lazarus and the
apostle-cousins and the other James. He is shown the "veronika" that Nike
brought Mary on the evening of Good Friday, and then goes.

[Hours go by.]

3. Mary tells the women She is now calm enough to enter the Supper Room,
and Susanna has the master of the house unlock it for them. She goes
straight to where Her Jesus was sitting. She asks for a beautiful, large
chest with a lock that She can put "all Her treasures" in. The Magdalene
promises to bring one the next day from their mansion -- "the nicest one
they have". Mary goes back to the room with the veronika and caresses the
Holy Face as if it were of flesh.

4. Another knock on the door. Isaac, the shepherd. "He saw you and I saw
you". This before the shepherds had to leave because the Jews were
threatening the women. Then the shepherds scattered, eventually "finding
themselves" at Bethany. They are mostly all there. His fields at dawn
were strewn with people wandering and weeping. After the earthquake, Isaac
found himself in the Temple "beyond the sacred limit" and the veil of the
Holy was torn from top to bottom as if the power of a giant tore it. Mary
sends Isaac to Lazarus to reassure him that only Jesus has died. (He had
been told they had all been killed.) And She sends word that She wants the
Iscariot and Simon Peter to come to Her.

5. Further knocking on the door. It is the centurion Longinus and they
all run away, the master of the house first of all. The Magdalene, who was
with Mary, rushes to the door. Longinus has brought the steel head of the
lance, with some of His blood still on it, he having heard from "Joseph the
citizen" that She wanted it. He offers to try to find His clothes but says
it is the right of the soldiers to have them. He regrets that he is too
late to come to know Him, but Mary says His Church will gather "tomorrow",
and he says that he will come.

6. John comes back at midday, and he has found only Judas Iscariot.
Hanging from an olive tree, all swollen and black. He goes out again to
Gethsemane, hoping to find His mantle.

7. Next, Johanna of Chuza comes with the shepherd, now steward, Jonathan,
wishing she had never been cured by Him. But Mary tells her:

"There is still much to be done. And we will have to do it. We have
remained and the men have run away.

THE TRUE GIVER OF LIFE IS ALWAYS THE WOMAN. In Good. In Evil.

We will generate the new Faith."
