I just watched this documentary film. It was hard to watch but very
powerful and healing. Knowing that Pope Francis is really trying to clean
and heal the church gives me comfort. The conversation with the filmmakers

SIPE: SEX, LIES AND THE PRIESTHOOD

Today, (Saturday evening, Feb 20, 2021) is the Premiere of the new
Documentary Film on the late Richard Sipe. He was the psychotherapist,
former priest and world renowned expert on the Catholic clergy abuse
problem who spent a lifetime researching and exposing this issue. He was
instrumental in the Boston Globe's Spotlight Investigation back in 2002. To
me, he was both hero and friend.

The World Premiere, online broadcast of the film is through the Salem, MA
Film Festival. Produced by Zingerplatz Pictures and BishopAccountability,
it was directed by Joe Cultreta, who made the film Hand of God, about abuse
in the Boston Archdiocese.

The movie runs for an hour. Screenings begin at 4 PM Eastern via the link
below.  There is a small, $10 viewing charge.

At 8 PM Eastern, Saturday, we will live broadcast a free, panel discussion
about Sipe's life, and his incredible impact he made through his research,
through reaching out to abuse survivors and his dogged persistence in
revealing the truth behind the Church's many decades of coverup.The panel
will include his wife, Marianne, Religion Scholar  and professor at
Northwestern University Robert Orsi, and scholar of sexuality and associate
professor at Salisbury University, Kara French. We will each present brief
remarks and then open the discussion to questions from viewers.

If you are unable to join us on Saturday, the movie and panel will remain
available for streaming rental from February 20, 2021, through March 4,
2021.
