Hi all,
Please ignore my last message. I was writing to a friend and have no idea how it ended up being sent to Sunday Community. Apologies,
Rita

Sorry to say I signed in too late to catch your singing. Very annoyed with myself. I should have set an alarm. Had grandkids here for dinner and lost track of time. I did hear several people recite poetry. I noticed the event was being recorded. Do you know if it will be available online? I hope so. Were you happy with how it went?

Talk tomorrow
Rita

Thank you very much for "bringing" St Oscar Romero...to whom I pray everyday...
Oscar Romero was killled on the 24th of March. when he was celebrating the Eucharist
Words of Bishop Casaldaliga (another social justice advocate and poet ):

El angel del Senhor anuncio en la vespera...
El coracon de el Salvador marcaba
24th de Marzo y de agonia..."

from Casaldaliga poem. A beautiful poem but in spanish

Every year I used to participate in some kind of celebration here in Toronto...
I have a great estime and admiration for S.Oscar Romero!
Tina

Brenda, there would the day he was assassinated as he was saying Mass. Also, the day he died in the hospital a few days later.

The day of your "birth into heaven" is what they usually use.

But the Ave Maria Centre of Peace out in Etobicoke gifted me with a Catholic Faith Calendar 2021 and it has a St. Ethelbert and St. Oscar Romero as the saints for Wednesday, FEB 24.

I skimmed the Wiki entry for what it said was his feast day but didn't see where they dealt with it.

My saints' calendar has St. Karin of Sweden as the one and only saint for MARCH 24.

Here is the link to what Wikipedia, who I find usually very balanced, has to say about him:

Óscar Romero - Wikipedia<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%93scar_Romero>

"You guys" should adopt him as your patron saint and pray to him today especially but also every day.

We say in our Creed that we believe in the "communion of saints", but how often do we think of and make use of them?

Do you realize they can't give us a good slap on the side of the head, that they are obliged to wait for us to ask before they can do anything to assist us?

Ask him to further your social-justice projects while keeping you from afoul of the Church's need to maintain some degree of control over its members.

A "big umbrella or tent" is a good thing. A broken one not what He has in mind or wants, IMHO. :)
