Further to the copyright issue,  we, the Sunday Community, are also licensed with OneLicense.net.  Many of the songs in our supplementary song book are copyrighted by them. I don't report to them each week, but we do pay an annual fee.  OneLicense is part of the GIA publishing house in Chicago, and I read recently that GIA has dropped David Haas from its list.  I don't know what that means in practical terms.

To give you some context.   David Haas has been accused of sexual assault by af least 40 women.  A friend of mine has been a music director af a local parish for many years.  She has also attended many workshops with David Haas.  The parish has a license to use published music through OñeLicense.  They must report each piece of music they use publicly and the artists get a royalty for the use of their music.  My friend is concerned that David Haas is still receiving these royalties.  Several Dioceses in the US have asked that his music not be used.  She was asking me about the situation in Canada and that was the reason for my email to Brian.  Because the licensing does not apply to the Sunday Community, the royalty issue is not one for the  community. David Haas' music is very meaningful and presents a real dilemma for musicians.Hope this gives some context for my email.Peace Sylvia Skrepichuk

It’s accepting the fact that there’s good and bad in all of us and loving anyway, aware of that, is loving as God loves. Not using his songs is like throwing out the baby with the bath water. Catherine
