[Sundaycommunity] Fw: CCCB statement re Indigenous

It’s incredible how many words can be used to avoid saying ‘We apologize’.
Instead of inviting the Pope here as the Truth and Reconciliation
Commission called for, they intend to send representatives to Rome? So much
less meaningful. And the power differential makes it worse. You don’t make
someone come to you so you can apologize. Obviously they don’t intend to
apologize but to ‘smooth things over’. Why can other Christian Churches
apologize and we, as an institution, who even have a sacrament for
reconciliation, find it so hard to? It looks like the fear of litigation is
greater than the healing of a group of people. Can’t they trust in the love
and forgiveness they preach? I’m ashamed to be Catholic.
