Well, I too was born in 1957, so I can't relate personally to these costs.
However, I recently took part in a virtual town hall meeting called "Frozen
in Time" and we were led through an exercise in how much things cost in the
mid-1990s and the rise in the cost of basic items such as a loaf of bread,
a carton of eggs and paying rent. I do remember these prices, and it's
astonishing how much things have risen in the past 30 years.
