Hi Friends

As Liz has let you know I have volunteered to be the Advent coordinator for
this year. Because of restrictions and our ZOOM masses the process is
simplified this year and we will not be holding a planning meeting as we
have done in the past. There will be no overall theme this season and I ask
that the liturgy planners work with the readings of the day and pull out of
them whatever theme you think is appropriate for the reflection.

Please let me know if you would like to be assigned to one of the four
Sundays:
November 28 first Sunday - Sharon McCarthy
December 5 second Sunday -
December 12 third Sunday -
December 19 fourth Sunday -
We need one or two people for each Mass.

The duties of liturgy planners for advent are the same as those for our
regular Sunday virtual masses except that we are also asking you to ask the
celebrant to light the appropriate advent candles on their advent wreath at
the start of Mass.

 * call the priest to confirm Sunday’s liturgy and ask them to light the
advent candles at the start of the mass at their own location.
 * prepare or find a Reflection and send it to the People Progress reporter
by Thursday. Please notify the People  Progress reporter early in the week
if you cannot do a Reflection.
 *Line up readers for the first and second readings and check with Brian
Halferty regarding the psalm.

On the Sunday of the virtual Mass:

* Greet the group - welcome new comers
* Give a brief introduction to the liturgy
* Be prepared to do a reading ( if one of the volunteers is unable to

log in)
*At announcements -  after the blessing and the last hymn - Thank everyone
who “attended” and those who helped.

The readings for Advent Year C are as follows:

First Sunday November 28 2021
     Jeremiah 33:14-16
     Psalms25:4-5, 8-9, 10, 14o
     1 Thessalonians 3:12-4:2

Second Sunday December 5 2021
     Baruch 5:1-9
     Psalms 126:1-2, 2-3, 4-5, 6
     Philippians 1:4-6, 8-11

Third Sunday December 12 2021
     Zephaniah 3:14-18A
     Isaiah 12:2-3, 4, 5-6
     Philippians 4:4-7

Fourth Sunday December 19 2021
     Micah 5:1-4A
     Psalms: 80:2-3, 15-16, 18-19
     Hebrews 10:5-10

The  2021-2022 liturgical year is Year C.
