The Toronto International Festival of Authors is on until tomorrow,

I just watched a very special interview: Anthony Cimilino interviewing
Tomson Highway about his new book, "Permanent Astonishment". I'm told the
interviews are available for 72 hours. I don't know how to make that work
for me, but if you can manage to see and it, do so!

Tomson was one of 12 children who lived a traditional life (fishing all day
with his father; living in a tent in winter and so on). He remembers his
parents as loving with many laughs at home. His father never attended
school, but knew the traditional way of life was ending so he wanted him to
go to school. (which was a residential school). The book covers his life
through school as well. He talks about how he finds blessings all through
his life path.

He says, at age 70, his life is filled with gratitude and he wants to
shower that gratitude on others for his remaining days. If you are able to
hear the interview, it is precious. I'm on the wait list for his book at
the Toronto Library.
