Hi, all,

I hadn't read this prayer before our zoom service on Sunday - but when I
read it earlier today I wished I could have shared some of it then. This
was forwarded to me by a friend who lives in New Jersey and belongs to a
Sophia community there. (The original pastor of this community was an
ordainedd woman but she died. So the replacement was a man who had been an
ordained Catholic priest. He had been frustrated with the Church's refusal
to change, to accept women and to accept LGTBQ folks - not to mention marry
them.)

Hello,

Here are some blessings and prayers for September 11th.

Blessing for September 11th

May the powers of life carry us onward.

May the act of great suffering bring healing to light.

May all women, children, elders and the weak be protected from the misuse
of aggression.

May those who cause hurt be healed in the center of their hearts.

We remember those we lost and those who love them.

As we do so we remember and hope.

May human kindness rise

May hope be regained.

May strength be regained.

May joy be regained.

May all those who were affected by the events of 911 find healing light,
peace and fulfillment.

Amen!

Brother Jesus, you know first hand what it means to have your life snatched
from you.

You are like us and so we know that you must have felt terrible fear.

We know that in the garden, you ‘sweated blood’ on the night you were
arrested.

We know that you, knowing what was about to engulf you, said “Let this cup
pass from me.” This must be the same fear that those in the twin towers
and in the airplanes and in the Pentagon, must have felt.
And yet, you, feeling the darkness rolling toward you, gathered your
friends, women and men, at the table. You wished to leave a gift that they
could remember and cling to when the time of trial came.

And so you broke the bread....

Peace,
Mike
