Catherine --

Right now, the City of Toronto is seeking input on regulations to reduce
single-use foodware items - such as cups, utensils, and bags.* This is an
important moment to call for regulations that reduce harmful disposables
and shift towards reusable alternatives! *

Take the City’s survey before March 4th and help shape Toronto’s upcoming
regulations on single-use and takeaway items.

The
survey takes approximately 15 minutes and will ask you a series of
questions on ask-first policies, fees and timelines.

The survey includes some good proposals to reduce disposables, but the City
needs to go further to encourage reuse.

*Here’s what you can share in the survey: *

   - Show your support for the City to *move quickly *on regulations
   - Show your support for *expanding the list of items* that businesses
must ‘ask-first’ before giving out (such as napkins and condiments), and
   items that have mandatory fees.
   - Show your support for additional reuse regulations - including
requirements that businesses accept* Bring-Your-Own* shopping bags or
   other reusable.
   - *At the end of the survey, use the comment box to say you want to see
the City do more to promote reuse! Tell the City you want requirements for
businesses to offer reusable dishes (such as cups or plates) when customers
are “dining in”. This is a game-changer regulation that other jurisdictions
have passed, and Toronto can, too!*

*The City is developing these regulations as phase 2 of Toronto’s
Single-Use Reduction Strategy - a strategy that was developed because of
public demand. *Now, we need the City to pass all of these proposed
regulations and do even more to eliminate and discourage single-use items
and encourage reusables as the real solution.

Sincerely,
