Vile, a word used recently in one of the emails in our list serve. We are without the spirit to properly address it.
Vile, an archaic meaning. ‘all the feasts that thou hast shared erewhile, to mine shall be but vile"
In common street parlance a mug, a mugger of the spirit. One such person might say to me “I have my opinion and I free to express it. I reply , I get it I get it but please stop. But then the opinion is repeated over and over again and supported at every opportunity be it in speech, prayer, writings, research and tone in facial expressions.
I spoke to a leader of the Church who was experienced with compulsive behaviour and I was advised. to hold true to your faith. You are not trained to address such compulsive aggressive behaviour. That is the wise counsel that can be witnessed in our community. It is with us and part of us from the beginning with Christ. We love one another in all its forms.
Malcolm Muggeride, when editor of Punch , when asked what was his position on abortion replied , I went to our writers and shouted “what is our position on abortion”? It is said he had vicious claws.
I must admit , I get Malcolm Muggeridge and have his words on vhs tapes, a tv and recorder that can player them.
Muggeridge saw a white sari with a blue border, enclosing a deeply lined face often smiling, was widely familiar, and her mission among 'the poorest of the poor', in Calcutta and elsewhere, was celebrated by popes and presidents alike, as well as by vast numbers of ordinary people.
The change in him was monumental. Such a force for good.
So taking the advice of another in respect of vile behaviour, leave it to the Spirit and those trained in it.
