Here's our chance to
*RESPOND!*

HAS THE GLOBAL SYNOD PASSED YOU BY?
You're not alone. Perhaps you've just thought of lots more that
needs saying. Or perhaps you wonder if our true voices are just going to
be edited out anyway?

So here now are *four swift things *that we can all do to
*MAKE OUR VOICES HEARD!*

All these collated answers will go direct to the Vatican, and aren't
subject to the March cut-off date. So please - get answering now, and
*pass this on.*

This survey takes about 8 minutes. It's been devised by Dr John O'Loughlin
Kennedy, economist, social entrepreneur, and author of *The Curia is the
Pope - and Why it Cannot Listen.*

"The Curia is the effective government of the Church. It approved the working
document

and this set the boundaries for what could go on to the agenda.

Pope Francis' call for a Church that is synodal at every level should mean
that discussion can no longer be suppressed on issues that are
embarrassing, or inconvenient to the authorities or on regulations that
obstruct the mission of the Church as defined by Jesus.

Regrettably, the same (Curial) structure is being used in preparation for
the October 2023 Synod of Bishops and the Curia will exercise the same
tight control, or probably even greater than usual.
Please read this survey. It offers you a practical way to support Pope
Francis and help the Church at a difficult time. It does not attempt to
pre-empt decisions but to make sure the issues are adequately discussed. It
takes about 8 minutes to complete, submit, and forward to others. We will
publish interim results during March or when we have a meaningful sample,
and will keep the link open as long as people keep participating.

or organisations of Catholics, ex-Catholics and other Christians".*

Please head over to the Wijngaards Institute, and read the *Ten
Commandments  for Church Reform*. Short, succinct and powerful.

Wijngaards is the leading international body for Catholic Church Reform -
if you've never explored their enormous range of research, you must.

Wijngaards laments the Church’s *repression of a healthy appreciation of
sex*. It makes a strong appeal for the Church “to abandon the misguided
repression of human sexuality advocated by St. Augustine in the fifth
century.”

Another major issue is the fact that *church leaders still treat the laity
as children**. *But in today’s world, people have become autonomous. They
are used to thinking for themselves” “It is easy to be authoritarian, to
tend a herd of submissive and passive sheep. It is far more demanding to
guide people towards true spiritual self-reliance and allow them full
co-responsibility in the way parishes and dioceses are run.”

Then there is the *the attempt to stifle all critical voices*. Only
arch-conservative yes-men are chosen to be bishops. Theologians who express
doubts about the official line proclaimed by the Vatican are threatened
with dismissal from their teaching posts at Catholic seminaries and
colleges. Disagreement with the ‘teaching authority’ is labelled as dissent
or even heresy.

*3.  SURVEY OF CATHOLIC WOMEN*

Are you now or have you ever self-identified as a Catholic woman? It is
vital that feedback to the Synod includes the widest possible range of
women’s voices from different cultures and contexts.

In collaboration with the University of Newcastle in Australia and the
Catholic Women’s Council, Catholic Women Speak is conducting an online
survey—available in six languages—to gather feedback from women around the
world.

This swift survey will take you about 5 or 6 minutes to complete. It will be
submitted in 2022 for the Worldwide Synodal Process in the Synod of
Bishops, 2023.

*4. FRANKFURT DECLARATION for a SYNODAL CHURCH*

The Catholic Church in Germany, rocked by the abuse scandals,
has been leading the way since 2019:

"As members of the Catholic Church, we recognise the Synodal Way in Germany
and far beyond its borders as a kairos: a moment of decision for our Church
before which God places us.
