Dear Sunday Community,
On Tuesday, Jan. 17th,Mary Lou will be moving from Providence Health Care to a long-term care home. Her stay at Providence has been an interim or temporary placement while we werewaiting for a long-term opening to come up. The place she will be moving to iscalled True Davidson Acres, located at 200 Dawes Road, just north of DanforthAvenue in Toronto. It has 187 residents, and is operated by the City of Torontoon a not-for-profit basis.
In a time when there are longwaiting lists for most LTC homes, it was somewhat remarkable to us that MaryLou was offered a room at True Davidson within two weeks of her LTC applicationbeing fully completed. When the phone call came that she was being offered aroom, we were able to arrange for a visit to the home and a tour, and so I wentthere, accompanied by our son Mike and his wife Jess, to look around and totalk with a couple of the staff.  MaryLou will have a private room, and the home provides a variety of services forits residents.  We have heard a couple ofgood reports from individuals about the quality of the care at True Davidson,so we are all supporting Mary Lou as she makes this move and we are hoping forthe best.

Visitors are allowed at TrueDavidson Acres, although everyone entering the building has to answer a COVIDscreening questionnaire and do a rapid test for COVID.  As part of Mary Lou’s admission process onTuesday, there will be a lengthy meeting which will provide us with moredetails about things like their visiting policy, in-house programs and otherissues.
Dawes Road runs north from Danforth Avenue about halfway between Main Street and Victoria Park Avenue.  Going north from Danforth, Dawes Road heads basically north-east and crosses Victoria Park Avenue just south of St. Clair Avenue.  True Davidson Acres, at 200 Dawes Road, is about halfway between Danforth and Victoria Park. I believe there is a Dawes Road bus. You can verify this, and the route, by checking on the TTC website.
For the time being, it is notreally possible to phone Mary Lou.  Weneed to make arrangements for her to have a phone that’s easier for her touse.  I can send out more informationabout that later on.

As I have shared with youpreviously, this whole process has been very difficult for all of us.  It is painful for Mary Lou and I to beseparated, painful also to see Mary Lou in mental distress. We have very muchappreciated the kind and thoughtful words that many of you have shared with us,and we are grateful for your prayers. Don’t stop praying.  We need allthe help we can get.

Love to you all,

Brian
