Dear Catherine,
Thank you for reading material based on  concerns Regarding the expansion
of medically assisted suicide in Canada.
Excuse my late response to your comment/question.
As Canadians, we tend to compare ourselves to Americans and generally find
 good Cause   to justify our pride.
Better  universal medical system ,
A much smaller “war machine “
militarism,   a less  extreme divide between rich and poor with a slightly
more effective Safetynet, and generally less extreme political landscape.

Unfortunately, the rapidly devolving
Regulations permitting
,and indeed in many cases now promoting,  Assisted suicide in Canada,  have
far fewer safeguards then almost anywhere in the world.
I have  helped to sponsor several online lectures on the topic. Just to
mention a couple of things that would be of concern:

Assisted Suicide Is being offered to people as a “faster” treatment Because
indeed the waiting list so long for mental health treatment.

Indeed , in a country where at most 30% of those in need of palliative care
have access to it , What is the message we are giving to our fellow
Canadians who are facing serious illness when the only guaranteed treatment
they   have is MAiD?

And a few things for people like ourselves who are conscious of social
justice,
  —Women live longer than men and are for more likely to feel pressure  to
not burden  others , And die prematurely bye assisted suicide;
— nothing could be more utilitarianly
Cost-efficient then assisted suicide – – it is cheaper than medical care.

Please consider viewing some of the excellent speakers (palliative care
specialist, Psychiatrist, lawyers,] Who volunteered their time for the
online lectures held over the last few years by the deVeber institute.
