Please thank the Toronto Star for the excellent op-ed they published
yesterday (Friday) by Shree Paradkar. In an eloquent piece, she highlights
the many deep ethical problems with the response of the media-political
elite to the Israel-Gaza situation.  When the media - like the Toronto Star
- actually do print something articulating our concerns, it's important to
thank them.

Keep in mind that one of the target emails on this alert is the "letters"
editor at the Toronto Star.  That means your letter could potentially be
considered for print if they like it.  For letters to the editor, the Star
says to write about 150 words or less, and to include your name and
telephone number (so they can reach you if need be.)  Paradkar's piece is
strong in many different ways, but here are some positive points you can
emphasize:

   - As opposed to many other op-eds coming out, this one expresses concern
   for ALL lives, not just Israeli lives
   - It highlights what Paradkar calls the "fake litmus test," where
   supporters of Palestinian life are forced to condemn themselves
   - It highlights the double-standard of most politicians, who seem only
   to be able to make statements of support for Israel
   - It highlights the international community's indifference to the
   killing of Palestinians
   - It rightly points out that people supporting humanity in Gaza are on
   the right side of history
