[Sundaycommunity] Spiritans celebrate 20 years in the DR

Thanks for this Fr. Paul. When you mentioned the Spritan’s 20th anniversary in the Dominican Republic, I thought I recalled hearing before that they were in San Juan de la Maguana… which is close to 300 km from the town where I live… Consuelo. I enjoyed reading the article you sent.

The Scarboro Foreign Mission Society had a long presence in this country… From the late 1940’s to 2020 - when the last remaining Scarboro priest in the DR passed away in our town of Consuelo… Fr. Joe McGuckin… the son of an Irish immigrant farming family… of Clandonald, Alberta. Wherever Joe was stationed to work here in the Dominican Republic, he was always drawn to local farming communities, where he is still lovingly remembered.
