[Sundaycommunity] Christmas greetings

Dear friends…

I’m finding it difficult to enter into the joy of Christmas when there is so much suffering around our world… all of which would appear to find it’s cause in human activity. War; forced and violent displacement; drought & famine; political & economic instability; ecological disaster and climate upheaval - just to name a few. Where can Hope be found in such utter darkness?

The image that Catherine Walther shared with us of the Palestinian rescuers cradling an infant child whose family had just been obliterated… and the smiling faces of those men amidst such darkness and destruction, affected me deeply. Perhaps their joy and hope can be a seed of sorts… If they can find cause to celebrate and be hopeful - then so should I.

The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned.
Isaiah 9:2

I send you, and all those close to you, tidings of comfort and joy this Christmas. Let us be ever mindful of our sisters and brothers around the world who are not as fortunate!
