Dear Paulo,
I am sorry for your loss of your Aunt Lucia. She was a wonderful, vibrant
person. You of course know her better than I do, but to me she was a very
well read person who took great interest in the world around her whether
that world was the larger society of Canada or our little Sunday worship
community. When I last saw her in December, she had very much put herself
into the hands of God as she went forward with her treatment but realizing
too that her time here may be coming to an end. Lucia was at peace but was
sort of wistfully thinking she would like to spend her last days in Brazil.
That did not happen but now you are taking her home with you and I am sure
she is smiling from the heavens. Peace be to you Paulo and the whole
family.

Caro Paulo,
Sinto muito pela perda de sua tia Lucia. Ela era uma pessoa maravilhosa e
vibrante. Você, é claro, a conhece melhor do que eu, mas para mim ela era
uma pessoa muito culta que tinha grande interesse no mundo ao seu redor,
fosse esse mundo a sociedade maior do Canadá ou nossa pequena comunidade de
adoração dominical. Quando a vi pela última vez em dezembro, ela tinha se
colocado nas mãos de Deus enquanto seguia em frente com seu tratamento, mas
também percebeu que seu tempo aqui poderia estar chegando ao fim. Lucia
estava em paz, mas estava meio que pensando melancolicamente que gostaria
de passar seus últimos dias no Brasil. Isso não aconteceu, mas agora você a
está levando para casa com você e tenho certeza de que ela está sorrindo
dos céus. A paz esteja com você, Paulo, e toda a família.
