Helena this is a very interesting exercise to recall the saints in our
midst. I am sorry that I missed the mass that week but I would like to
give my two cents.
George Galloway in a recent podcast declared two saints(prophetic
voices) for our age. The first was Greta Thurnberg for her fearless
participation in the recent Gaza Flotilla. The second was Catholic
pod-caster Candice Owens for her broadcasting evidence implicating the
Zionist lobby in the murder of Charlie Kirk. I however would like to
recognize a Canadian saint. It is not only courage that determines
saintliness but also the character to respond with love to the grievous
injustice of institutional power.
My choice for Prophetic voice is Katie Pasitney. At one time
Development and Peace ran a campaign supporting farmers like Percy
Smizer, who lost his farm in a law suit by big agriculture for saving
the seed of patented GMO canola that had blown into his field from
neighbours. Defending farmers from big agriculture seems to have only
been the flavour of the month. Now that farmers are being persecuted by
corporate owned state bureaucracies they are no longer a live concern.
Powerful saints like Katie are not featured in a positive light by
corporately owned media. Thank god for a free and open internet at least
for the time being.
