I am now free of all infection and there will be no more amputations of my left leg. The surgery that I had 2 weeks ago was an angioplasty of the lower left leg plus amputation of three of the toes that were infected. Am I getting too medical? Well, the angioplasty was necessary because for the past 20 years my circulation has been very ooor in that extremity (sign of long term insulin dependency) and the amputation was really the only way to get rid of the infection. The team of doctors were all very honest with me in being doubtful that this would get rid of th e infection but it had to be tried. I went into surgery hoping for the best, prepared for the worst (below knee amputation of the left leg, in addition to the right).

I an stil healing from this toe amputation and expect to be transferred to the amputees' rehab program in the building next door to the hospital in a few weeks. I was reading about the new teo prosthetics a few months ago online and now I'm a candidate.

I know that all of you are part of the good news and I had to give you the specifics.. I was feeling fine yesterday but my son Gabriel wanted to come from Toronto for a visit and he had to come in the morning. He has a part time job cleaning a gyn near his father's house and he had to be ready for that at 2. This is reading week for the colleges and he is all caught up with his schoolwork. I think this is the right time in his life for post-secondary education. He so pleased. (He is the oaralegal program at Humber College. All colleges in Ontario now have a paralegal program but Humber is the only one that has a 4 year program that leads to a degree.

Have a blessed and peaceful week, Pat

Patricia Smiley

email: smileypatricia76@gmail.com

mobile: 647-517-1599
