The <i>reasoning </i>used to essentialise a male priest is about as sturdy as a limp balloon. As Catherine points out, the Vatican relies on nuptial theology of Ephesians 5 to defend the manshow. The priest must be a man because Jesus is the groom. But then they also they contend that everyone in the Church is female, so men also stand in for the bride. Not one woman is needed anywhere anytime in any place for celebration of the mass. <br><br>Thinking this through to logical conclusion, gender bending is on full display.
