I read the NCR article and viewed the Jennifer Bilek video with great interest to see what I could learn. I have to say I found the NCR article much more convincing. Bilek is condescending in her argument against sexual dysphoria and sees trans-genderism as a conspiracy promulgated by the "medical industrial complex," "big pharma" and "Silicon Valley". To her it's a social construct where people are being influenced to think of themselves as living in the wrong body. Really??? Is it not possible that our sense of identity can be dissonant with the sex we were assigned at birth? And if so, what does it do to us if we cannot live in fidelity with our sense of self, if we cannot be authentic? I have had the privilege of working with many transgendered refugees who are here specifically because they were being persecuted for being trans. These people are here alone. They had to leave family, friends and all that was familiar to them behind because no one understood them and the hostility resulted in serious assaults and threats on their lives. That is a very high price to pay in order to live an authentic life. The tragedy is that they did not see much of an improvement. They found a good deal of discrimination and hostility here, to the extent that we had to develop strategies to keep them safe. As a Canadian and a Christian I find this appalling. We can and must do better. <p>Below is an NCR article that is being circulated by leftish
friends who consider the article scientifically and theologically
correct. This surprises me because i see it as quite the
opposite; a regurgitation of trans-humanist transgender dogma.
The author in no way provides evidence for his key statements.
What is this "reality of transgender" and how does it supersede
the reality of "being born male or female"? The author talks
about the necessity of sex change surgery and hormone therapy but
why is it necessary? Studies show that the incidence of sexual
dysphoria in our public schools correlates directly with the
introduction of Sexual Orientation and Gender Identification
curriculum. Sexual dysphoria or sexual confusion is caused by the
TRANS AGENDA. Blind support for transgender ideology is rather
thoughtless in my opinion. <br>

<p>This transgender issue is of critical importance in our society
at this time and we should be discussing the issue. The following
Youtube lecture is a much more scientific and theological
treatment of this issue than the NCR article critiquing the US
Bishops. It is evidentially based and not a trans-humanist faith
statement.<br>
