I have always thought, when I see nativity scenes of Mary kneeling in front of the manger.... that was not how it happened. Mary was no doubt lying beside Jesus, breastfeeding him, and keeping him warm! </div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-size:small"><br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-size:small">My work has been in breastfeeding, complementary feeding and maternal nutrition, starting in Guatemala nearly 50 years ago. Since then I have had the opportunity to train health professionals, community health workers and mothers in 40 countries. </div><div><br></div><div>and I think,</div><div>if the vulgarity of birth is not </div><div>honestly preached </div><div>by men who carry power but not burden,</div><div>who carry privilege but not labor,</div><div>who carry authority but not submission,</div><div>then it should not be preached at all. </div><div><br></div><div>because the real scandal of the Birth of God</div><div>lies in the
