Sheila was a very special woman! I miss her dearly… Did you know Sheila and Rowena when their families lived together in the three story home they shared with three separate living spaces in the west end of Toronto… when Fr. Paul Ouellette (of Scarboro Missions) lived in the attic suite? </div><div dir="ltr"><span style="caret-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); color: rgb(0, 0, 0);"><br></span></div><div dir="ltr"><span style="caret-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Speaking of the Thirwals… by happenstance </span>I actually have an original piece of Lee Thirwal’s artwork hanging in my bedroom here in Consuelo… a print of Saint Francis of Assisi. There were a number of copies of the print in the parish house here in Consuelo… gifts from Lee to Fr. Paul O. I don’t know what happened with all the other prints after Scarboro Missions gave up the administration of the parish in 1997. </div><div dir="ltr"><span style="caret-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); color: rgb(0, 0, 0);"><br></span></div><div dir="ltr"><span style="caret-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">I did not meet Sheila and Dwyer until they were living in Kitchener. And I wouldn’t have met them if it wasn’t for Fr. Paul O, who was here in Consuelo (Dominican Republic) when I arrived in 1991. Isn’t it incredible the way our lives twist and turn in response to the varied experiences we have & the people we encounter on our unique journeys? Sheila asked Fr. Paul O. if she could bring a group of students from St. Mary’s high school in Kitchener to Consuelo over March Break in 1992. She then brought a second group in 1993 along with Sylvia Skrepichuk and her group of students from Archbishop Denis O’Connor high school in Ajax! If it weren’t for these two remarkable women, the program we offered for close to 30 years would never have been born. </span><i>“We plant seeds that one day will grow & water seeds already planted - knowing that they will give the future promise.”</i> A quote from Bishop Ken Untener – used as a reflection on the martyrdom of Archbishop Oscar Romero. </div><div dir="ltr"><br></div><div dir="ltr">Thanks once again for reaching out Mary. Below is a copy of the reflection by Sheila Sullivan that I mentioned at the introduction of today’s liturgy. I am sending a photo of the article as well as the PDF file as I seem to be having problems with PDF files being attached to email messages. I am also including a couple of photos that are relevant to today’s readings as well. <br>
