<div dir="ltr">Some of you may recall that Bertha attended our liturgy last August. I invited her because of her Doctorate celebration story. She arranged an evening Mass at Regis College and then invited us all to a private room at the Mandarin. Bertha is
from Newfoundland and the highlight for me was singing Newfoundland folk songs.</div>

<p class="x_MsoNormal">These essays describe how each woman, even within a patriarchal institution whose professional class/caste is restricted to men, found ways to live out their faith in the service of God and neighbour. The women’s histories are tales of
remarkable resilience and commitment to the Catholic future of Canada.</p>
