Dear friend,

Thank you for registering for the webinar on *“Why is the UN so critical of
Israel?”* with Professor Michael Lynk, UN Special Rapporteur on Human
Rights in the Occupied Palestinian Territories.

The UN has passed more resolutions critical of Israel than of any other
country. Why? It is *NOT* because Israel is the worst country in the world
for violation of human rights. Arguably there are many others that are
worse.

The presentation was aimed at explaining that UN resolution 181 which
proposed dividing Palestine into two states – a Jewish State and an Arab
state - included many conditions for the protection of Palestinians, which
Israel has not respected, despite repeated criticisms by the UN General
Assembly.

As former Secretary General of the UN Kofi Annan said in 2011, *“The
failure to achieve an Arab Israeli peace remains for the UN a deep internal
wound as old as the organization itself”.*

As promised, here is the link to the recording of the event.

*Please share it widely.* It will also be posted on the OFIP website (
www.ottawaforumip.org)

*YOUR FEEDBACK REQUESTED*

On behalf of the organizers of the webinar, I would like to ask for your
feedback - *good,* *bad* or* indifferent*. Positive feedback is always
encouraging, of course, but your *suggestions on what we might do
differently in the future* would be especially appreciated.

I am sorry that we were not able to get to all 37 questions posed, and many
of those we did address merit a much more thorough discussion. If you have
suggestions for future webinars, please share them with us.

*FINALLY - PLEASE CONSIDER MAKING A SMALL DONATION TO OFIP*

OFIP is a volunteer organization. We offer these monthly webinars free to
you but we do have some costs. In a zoom-based world, we can't "pass the
hat". What to do?? If everyone who watched the webinar gave $10, that would
more than cover our costs... but that would be a lot of work for our poor
secretary treasurer.

We have a different suggestion. If you like what you have seen and think
you will probably watch one or more future OFIP webinars then consider
sending along $30 or $40 by e transfer and consider yourself "subscribed"
for the next year. That would be terrific.

You can make a donation by sending an etransfer to: ofip.finance at gmail.com

I wish you a happy and COVID free holiday season.
