Great news today.

Mary Simon has been named our new Governor General.

She is our first Indigenous GG.  Surely her stellar background and experience preclude this from being merely tokenism.

I find it poignant that the reason she does not speak French is because it was not taught at her Indigenous (day) school in Quebec.  Thank goodness this did not prevent her appointment.

Finally, something to celebrate.
