request for Solidarity

Hello folks,

I received this request from the Catholic Women's Council for letters in
support of the Indian nun who brought charges of rape against Bishop Franco
Mulakkal. He was just acquitted of the charges. The *National Catholic
Reporter* has been covering this for some time.

The letters they request are in personal support of the survivor, not
protest letters.

I just sent a letter.

Many thanks,

Susan

Dear Friends,

Sisters in Solidarity, the group of women and lawyers, who have been
supporting the Sister Survivor who accused her bishop of raping her, and
who was given a not guilty verdict on Friday 14th January 2022, have
started a campaign in support of the Sister Survivor.

You are requested to write a letter of solidarity to “Sister X”, expressing
your solidarity with her in her pain after the unjust and flawed verdict
that acquitted Franco Mulakkal of raping her. Please post your letter to
the email <solidarity2sisters at gmail.com>

I request you to read a short commentary of the judgement, so you can
understand how pained she is because he is not just exonerated by the
289-page judgement, but she was dragged through the muck because of his
lies.

Commentary of the judgement here:

You can also read this article that gives a background of her story here:

Please be personal. Thank you.

If you wish to write a statement from your organization on this injustice
in our Church, please do so and publish it in any newspaper or your website
and send us a copy.

Thank you,

The Indian Women Theologians’ Forum member of CWC

on behalf of

Sisters in Solidarity.
