Wish you all this best with this request for the musician. Toronto is one
tough old City. Gotta love it in lots of ways, but it's become awfully hard
for lots of people.
We have moved to Montreal, not because of any bad feelings about St.
Catharines or Toronto but because, in getting quite a bit older (I'm now
82), we want to live closer to our only child, Laura, who has - with
husband Marc - two boys, ages 8 and 5. They have been here together for 10
years and Marc has a small but good restaurant here in the East End. We
live in the apartments built for the Olympic athletes in 1976. They are
still standing, and well maintained, and affordable. We see the Olympic
Stadium tower from the front deck. It's a French part of town, and we're
not fluent. But people are kind, and we're managing well enough. I lived
in Montreal for 30 years and loved it, but that was in the English
sanctuary of Notre Dame de Grace, which is a 40 minutes drive to the other
end of the Island. Dave is from Cornwall and while he played some hockey
in tournaments when he was an active athlete, this is all new for us. We
seem to be up to it. Winter will tell more of the tale!
I admire the work you do, with calm and diligence, in building connections
and community. God has been good, in gifting you with the ability to stay
in tune and in touch with so much that is good in Toronto.
With respect and affection, Rosemary Gray-Snelgrove
