I agree with what it is that CATHERINE says.  Also what it is that JOHN MacMILLAN. says.  We need:A)    Women - in all of our 'GOODness' and 'BADness' to come out of the quagmire that we are in,B)    People - in all of our being in the right place, at the right time - to help us on the way - looking to GOD For Change!!

I'm with Catherine on this. Evolution is still continuing, and we with it.
The diversity of humankind has much to be celebrated. We do much better when we become less judgemental and better at appreciating unique gifts. In our day we are on a slow journey to value women in ways that were denied in times past. We've always had people who didn't relate to gender roles and found gender identity an issue for them. They have more mental health issues, since we are such social animals and they don't conform - indeed they are at significantly greater risk of suicide.
Jesus, who consistently favored the poor and the outcast, is our great example. We need to start from every individual bearing the stamp of God, and with that firmly in place we hopefully will be in a better place.John

I have to agree with Bill on this one.  Throughout my studies in sociology the big question always was can there be social science or was it in the end ideology.  Taking this discussion further I began to question whether medicine was based more on technocratic ideology than science.

The concept of Gender fluidity is a prime example of an ideology promoting a transhumanist perspective.  It is the role of the wisdom of the Church to protect our families and children from the consequences of this exploitative ideology.

Well Bill, I read the article and I appreciate that you responded positively to it. And I believe it’s the way the official church would image itself.  However, in thinking about it Vatican 11 stresses that WE are Church. And we live in the 21st century, where science now shows that we are all on a gender fluid spectrum, where social science  , (Vatican 11 included ) believes that people need to participate, and rule-making and leadership should be not so hierarchical , where women and men are intellectually, socially, emotionally, and creatively equal and again mostly on a spectrum. Science also teaches us that we humans are part of the Earth community and not separate from it.  All of these and probably many other understandings today that don’t come readily to mind, show where the old ocean liner is fast leaking and better start filling in the holes before it sinks completely.  The Holy Spirit,  or Great Spirit, or whatever name we use for God is fast working, inspiring and creating small Christian communities that are egalitarian, non-clerical, where sharing together how God is working in their lives, where meditation, bible studies and spirituality book studies enliven the members’ faith and help them to  “Act justly,  love mercy, and walk humbly with their God. “ and, as the essence of Jesus teaching says,” Love God and love our neighbour as ourselves.”  There’s not much about big institutions, traditions or ocean liners in those teachings.  Love the dialogue, Catherine

I like this article on why the Catholic Church moves so slowly, like a large ocean liner (not the Titanic!) coursing through rough seas.
