Document of the recent Synod of Bishops ‘The Catholic Church is bedevilled
by sex ... the female sex. Church men, who claim a privileged insight into
the mind of God, earnestly agonise over what women can be and do. Mostly,
what they can’t be and can’t do. Obstat sexus: “her sex prevents her”. It
is ubiquitous and overrides Christ’s great commandment “love one another as
I have loved you”.’

While in Rome, Rene and co. met Bernadette Rudolph, MA, MS. She has offered
to host an online workshop for CCRI, Spirit Unbounded and anyone else.

As someone who has worked for ten years in a parish and then five in the
Office for Parish Life in the Diocese of Scranton Pennsylvania, Bernadette
understands the many ways synodality can inspire and support
co-responsibility in parish life.

If your parish or community struggles to engage all its members and to
build relationships with others, imagine it being rejuvenated by respectful
dialogue and genuine encounter. And if you are already part of a vibrant
parish or community, consider what would happen if more and more people
were invited into creating and carrying out a mission and vision they
discerned together.

If you are interested in bringing synodality to your own parish, CCRI will
work out a time when they can offer this. If there is sufficient interest,

*“Not ripe”...“No room for positive decision”...“Niche issue”...“Rushing…
is not the way to promote women today”...“Further study is needed” ...“More
maturation is needed”...“A step by step approach”...“When the time is
right”*

*EDITORIAL* Let's face it. This is not our Church.
It's 'Tenants in the Vineyard' time, isn't it?

The hierarchy of cardinals and bishops and the Vatican dicastries have
taken over the Vineyard of the Lord.
The Vineyard of the Lord was planted with great care for *everyone* - a
*safe* space, with a wall around it, a winepress and a watchtower.

But it is now the Tenants' Vineyard.
They've made it *their* space not our space.
It excludes, it allows the worst abuse to go unpunished, it blesses
would-be dictators, and quashes freedom of conscience and freedom of speech.
It makes a mockery of the beatitudes.

We do not recognise this Tenants' Vineyard as the Vineyard of the Lord.

Together, let us keep the faith. And while we wait for justice, compassion
and equality to prevail in the hierarchical church, let's build the
Vineyard of the Lord *alongside*
*outside* the tenants' walls...
