[Sundaycommunity] Some memories of Lucia

Dear Sunday Community Friends,

Lucia expected the best from everyone and everything because she tried to
give her best: in time, care, and concern to those with whom she came in
contact. Lucia was always a “connector” – she connected people with friends
and agencies and places. Some of us can attest to the fact that Lucia loved
our kids and grandkids. She genuinely took an interest in their wellbeing
and activities and remembered all their names. Lucia was engaged in social
justice activities. During this past year Liz Whelan told us that Lucia
would call Liz every evening after the news to discuss the politics and
injustices of the day.


Over the last 11 months, Roberto and I, and others, have shared the
challenge and the privilege of journeying with Lucia along “The Road Most
Travelled”. Together we climbed mountains and stumbled in valleys while
continuing to forge ahead. Together we experienced both the fragility of
life and the resilience of life. We re-lived beautiful moments and
recognized shortcomings. And together we prayed to our God of Love and
Compassion in childlike faith and trust and innocence. And we heard: “All
Shall Be Well”.
