In the context of a hierarchy that is obsessed with hetero-normativity, the
sacramental theology behind the all male priesthood becomes
laughable/absurd.

Current attempts to defend the sacramental 'theology' of an all male
priesthood turns celebration of the Eucharist into gender bending.
The *reasoning
*used to essentialise a male priest is about as sturdy as a limp balloon.
As Catherine points out, the Vatican relies on nuptial theology of
Ephesians 5 to defend the manshow.  The priest must be a man because Jesus
is the groom. But then they also they contend that everyone in the Church
is female, so men also stand in for the bride.  Not one woman is needed
anywhere anytime in any place for celebration of the mass.

Thinking this through to logical conclusion, gender bending is on full
display. Male priest ie, groom + men as bride -- the nuptial metaphor turns
into same sex marriage in the context of the mass.

I wonder:  has anyone used the Vatican's own story to show why same sex
marriage is already embedded in our sacramental man show way of being???
